Gabriela Ruíz, a native of Texas, grew up in Houston where she first discovered her love for music. Ms. Ruíz has been a winner of the HSPVA and Virtuosi of Houston Concerto Competitions and the Flute Society of Kentucky Collegiate Artist Competition. She has also been a semi-finalist for the New World Symphony. She received her Master of Music degree from the Boston University College of Fine Arts under the tutelage of Renée Krimsier, and Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Texas at Austin where she studied with Marianne Gedigian. While attending the High School for the Performing and Visual Arts (HSPVA), Ms. Ruíz performed the Martin Ballade as a soloist with the HSPVA Symphony and studied privately with Jennifer Keeney. Ms. Ruíz has also explored the world of professional flute making as a flute finisher for Verne Q. Powell Flutes, further expanding her knowledge of the flute.
Ms. Ruíz has a passion for teaching students of all ages. She began teaching at the young age of fourteen and has continued her work as a private instructor, lecturer, and chamber coach. Every private lesson is tailored to the needs and goals of the student to provide the most beneficial, individualized experience. Ms. Ruíz aims to provide her students with a strong foundation of skills that will allow them to succeed through music and beyond. In addition to the Rhapsody Arts Center, she has taught students of the Houston and Leander Independent School Districts, Longhorn Music Camp, Ip Piano School, 77 Arts Academy, and the Performing Arts Center of Metrowest.
