Alaina Carlson



Alaina Carlson has been a musician since beginning her piano studies at age 7 in her hometown of Racine, Wisconsin. She continued her piano studies through college, but along the way she became an also became an avid choir member and stage performer, and she received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Music from Lake Forest College in 2011.

While teaching in Chicago, Alaina sang with several choral ensembles, including the Apollo Chorus of Chicago, Chicago Choral Artists, Peregrine Vocal Ensemble, treble sextet La Caccina, the Saint James Cathedral Choir, and the Chicago Symphony Chorus. In addition to her choral work, Alaina’s favorite musical theater and opera roles have included Belle in Beauty and the Beast, the Leading Player in Pippin, Hansel in Hansel and Gretel, and the Mother in Amahl and the Night Visitors. She most recently appeared as ‘Metella’ in Northeastern Illinois University’s production of La Vie Parisienne. Next up, she will be singing the role of ‘Nancy’ in UW – Madison’s upcoming production of Albert Herring.

Alaina has enjoyed teaching for the past five years, first with Activator Academy in Lake Forest, Illinois, and next with the Chicago branch of Piano Lessons In Your Home, where she was recently honored as Teacher of the Month. Alaina strives to guide her students toward becoming self-sufficient musicians, instilling the tools needed to develop whatever level of musicianship a student seeks. She has very recently returned to her native Wisconsin to pursue her Master of Music degree in vocal performance, and she is thrilled to be joining the Rhapsody Arts Center teaching team.
