Audrey is very excited to be a part of the talented staff at Rhapsody Arts Center, and working together with both students and colleagues in this wonderful world of sound we call music.
Hailing originally from Zimbabwe, Africa, Audrey trained in Piano Teaching at the Zimbabwe College of Music obtaining her teaching diploma (LRSM) through the British examining body, the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM) in 1988. She studied piano under Neil Chapman (then Director of the Zimbabwe College of Music). As a soloist, Audrey was the runner-up in the concerto Young Soloists Competition in 1992.
Audrey has taught students in piano, flute and theory through the ABRSM system, as well as the Cambridge ‘O’ Level Music syllabus in the Zimbabwean school system. She has coached a wide variety of school student ensembles and vocal groups. Prior to leaving Zimbabwe, highlights include founding a school of music, and culminating in the role of Assistant Director of Music at Prince Edward Boys School.
Other musical experiences are as eclectic as her tastes in music – she has played in various bands (the noisy kind!), and accompanied vocal and instrumental soloists for exams, recitals and radio performances (the quiet kind!).
In the USA, Audrey has taught piano/voice, flute and guitar. She has played keys, flute and bass in church bands, and most recently, and as guest accompanist at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Madison, WI. Audrey enjoys seeing musical creativity blossom, and encourages that in her students.
