Originally from a small town in northern Illinois, Julie Stalheim has enjoyed exploring the Madison area and all the musical opportunities it has to offer!
She is a graduate of Millikin University in Decatur, IL, with a Bachelor of Music in Music Education. While at Millikin, Julie actively participated in numerous choirs and ensembles, including University Women, Tudor Voices, and University Choir. In University Choir, she performed at the National Cathedral in Washington, D.C. and at the ACDA National Convention in Miami, FL. Julie studied abroad in Urbania, Italy, with a focus on early music and the Italian language. She performed works from Gluck, Landini, Palestrina, and Gastoldi.
While in Madison, Julie has participated in the Early Music Festival at UW-Madison where she has studied works from Telemann and Handel. Currently, she is a member of Madison Chamber Choir, and she is the choir director at her church.
In addition to singing, Julie has studied the piano since age 7. She received piano instruction at college and has found that skill to be quite useful in the music education profession.
