Meghan recently moved from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to continue her musical career at the University of Wisconsin where she will be pursuing a master’s degree in voice performance. Her journey began when she started playing the piano at an early age. For 5 years she was the accompanist for a private children’s choir and she also accompanied a women’s ensemble during her undergraduate degree. She believes that having basic piano skills will lead to success and ease with learning any other instrument.
After discovering a love for musical theater (later becoming a love for opera) Meghan pursued voice studies and that carried her through her undergraduate years. She obtained a bachelor’s of music in voice performance from Penn State University, University Park, PA. She also studied at the American Institute of Musical Studies in Graz, Austria where she trained intensively for performance of the German Lied. Roles and partial roles throughout her career include Laurie Moss, The Tender Land (Aaron Copland), Maria, The Sound of Music, Hansel, Hansel and Gretel (Engelbert Humperdinck), Pamina, Die Zauberflöte (W.A. Mozart), and Rosina, Il barbiere di Siviglia (Gioacchino Rossini). Meghan taught private voice and piano in the Pittsburgh area for 5 years. She has also served as a vocal director for community theater productions and musical theater camps. Shows and scenes include: You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown, Guys and Dolls, Wicked and Aladdin, Jr.
Singing should be uncomplicated, easy, and free. Therefore, Meghan strives to work with her students on building the core fundamentals of healthy vocal technique that will help them to discover their own, unique voice!
