March 6: Barnes & Noble Playathon

February 18th, 2010

Mark your calendars for Saturday, March 6: Barnes &Noble Bookfair Playathon:

On Saturday, March 6 from 11am-1pm, Rhapsody students will perform at a Barnes & Noble book fair. This is an informal opportunity for kids to play through pieces in a casual environment. Students sign up for one or more five-minute time slots, and can leave after they play. We will bring a Roland digital keyboard and music stands.  Before and during the book fair, we’ll be distributing vouchers to families; any purchases made at Barnes & Noble (West side location off Mineral Point Road) with the Rhapsody voucher on March 6 will result in 10% of the total being donated to Rhapsody. Vouchers are attached to this email as well. We will bring a Roland digital keyboard and music stands for students to use.

This is an excellent opportunity for students preparing for Solo and Ensemble, Guild auditions, or any festival in which they’ll need to play several pieces. Also, it’s a good idea for students preparing for our regular April recitals to have a chance to play through their pieces in an informal setting. More advanced students can take advantage of the chance to play for a longer period of time and sign up for several time slots. A sign-up binder for the book fair performance is out in the lobby, and will be there until all time slots are filled. You may also sign up for the book fair by emailing Rhapsody.

David Landau

February 2nd, 2010

UPDATE: all remaining classes have been canceled with the exception of one performance on Tuesday, March 2 at 11am.

Verona-area kids’ entertainer David Landau will be performing for young children (suggested age: 2-5) at Rhapsody Art Center.   Dave’s performances are a blend of music and humor.  He is a great singer and plays a toe-tapping guitar, but his true talent is making kids laugh.  The kids are kept very busy throughout the entire performance with dancing, singing, acting, moving, pretending, and (of course) laughing.  The adults can sit back and enjoy the sights and sounds of children having a good time.  The admission is $5 per child and adults are free.
