Summer 2015 Forms
Do you love to read and create? Then this is the class for you! Each week we’ll read a classic children’s book by beloved authors such as Leo Leoni, Dr. Seuss, Eric Carle, Maurice Sendak (Where the Wild Things Are,) and Marcus Pfister (The Rainbow Fish.) After we have read, we will create a piece of art inspired by our story. This class combines art and reading, and helps little artists see the beauty in both a book’s words AND illustrations!
Tuesdays 10:15-11:15am – $65/5 weeks
SESSION 1: June 16th-July 14th
SESSION 2*: July 21st-August 25th (no class August 4th!)
*Sessions are not cumulative
Instructor: Jen Walkington
There is beauty all around us! This class explores five different cultures and countries around the world, and brings them into our creations. We’ll study exciting places such as Ancient Egypt, India, Africa, Australia, and China, and learn about their traditions, history, and people. Our project each week will reflect the culture we’ve studied, and your child will leave each class with new knowledge as well as their very own piece of art!
Thursdays 9:00-10:00am – $65/5 weeks
SESSION 1: June 18th-July 16th
SESSION 2*: July 23rd-August 27th (no class August 6th!)
Have you heard of Van Gogh? Picasso, Dali, O’Keeffe? Frank Lloyd Wright? These artists made a mark in history with their amazing artwork, but what else do we know about these right brain rock stars? Did you know that both Frank Lloyd Wright and Georgia O’Keeffe lived near Madison? Have you heard the story about Van Gogh cutting his own ear off? Would you like to know the REAL story? Each week we’ll study these amazing artists (their history, fun facts, and their contributions to the art world,) and then make our own masterpiece inspired by them. Knowledge and artwork in one class!
Thursdays 10:15-11:15am – $65/5 weeks
This class is designed just for boys! No hearts, no glitter, no pink! Instead, we’ll focus our projects on monsters, bugs, aliens, and more. Each week we’ll create a piece of artwork centered on manly mediums, and the only girl in the class will be the instructor. Be ready for some fun with the guys!
Tuesdays 9:00-10:00am – $65/5 weeks
