Rhapsody Arts Center’s theater classes will inspire your imagination while developing beginning acting skills.
Academic Year 2010-11
Acting for Little Ones (4-6yrs)
Does your child possess a theatrical flair? Does he or she
enjoy musical fun and games? Come join the fun as we
explore the world of children’s theater through music,
storytelling and group activities. This exciting class is
designed to encourage social skills, coordination, and self
esteem as well as an early awareness of theater and drama.
Wednesdays 4-4:45pm $75/6 weeks
September 28-November 9 (no class October 26)
The Play’s The Thing! (7-12yrs)
Audition, rehearse, and perform in “The Good Neighbors”,
a fractured fairy tale written and directed by Rhapsody’s
theater instructor Genia Allard. No prior acting experience
is required, but students should be comfortable with
reading from a script. For the performance, memorization
will be expected.
The first class will include an audition, and every child will
receive a speaking part. The final performance will take
place during the last class period; family and friends are
invited to attend. There is a minimum enrollment of five and
a maximum enrollment of seven students for this class.
Saturdays 10-11am $110/6 weeks

Musical Theater Exploration (9-12yrs)
Explore your voice and learn how to act in this dynamic and interactive ten-week musical theater class. Students will study and perform segments from familiar musicals while learning expressive vocal and acting techniques. During the last class session, students will present a performance for family and friends. $175/10 weeks

Daring to Play (7-12 years)
Thursdays, 4:45-5:30pm: Oct 14 through Dec 16 (no class Thanksgiving day)
Give your young person a chance to discover their ability to create new worlds! This is a nine-week program designed to help young people discover or develop their acting talents. Through a series of theatre games and improv activities, students will work together to create theatre. This is an opportunity to develop creativity, self-esteem, and self-confidence while learning about the world of the stage.

Royal Drama (13-17 years)
Wednesdays, 6:00-7:00pm: Oct 13 through Dec 22 (no class Thanksgiving week)
Do you have a budding drama queen or king in your midst? Help them channel their creative abilities into a productive means of self-discovery. This ten-week program for teens encourages young people to find their voice on stage. Students will learn to work together to create theatre through theatre games and improv activities. This class will help to boost self-confidence and creativity by giving students an opportunity to explore the world of theatre.

Auditioning for College (high school)
Mondays, 6:00-7:00pm: October 11 through Nov 29
Auditioning for an acting, musical theater, or vocal performance college degree? We’ll help you build the skills you need to prepare for collegiate level auditions. We will work on picking the correct material, creating a resume, and performing your pieces. This will be a fun and interactive class for those students who are serious about pursuing a music or theater performance degree.

Private Audition Coaching (high school)
Date/Time: privately arranged, enrollment ongoing
Open to high school students who want to enter college programs for theater, musical theater and vocal performance, this one-on-one theater coaching is for those who want a more intense lesson in building the skills you need for collegiate level auditions. We will work on nuances of picking the correct material, performing your pieces, interacting with the faculty and creating a resume. It is recommended you have had private voice lessons before doing this coaching if preparing for musical theater or vocal performance auditions.
$200/eight 45-minute sessions Instructor: Catie O’Donnell
