Alyssa Ingram
Visual Arts

Alyssa Ingram grew up in Massachusetts and has been painting for as long as she can remember. Her passion for art began with her initial enrollment in art lessons as a young child. Those lessons evolved over the years into more formal training and eventually led her to the Fine Arts program at the Hartford Art School, University of Hartford in Connecticut, where she completed her BFA in Illustration.
Having had the opportunity to experiment with several different mediums, Alyssa eventually found that she was most interested in focusing on illustrations that incorporated the whimsical feel of watercolors with the richness of color pencil. Since then, Alyssa has honed her painting techniques and developed a technique that combines color and texture to create paintings filled with images that aren’t soon forgotten. Alyssa’s subjects include everything from characterized people and animals to detailed landscapes, flowers and architecture. She finds herself enjoying the process of exploring themed paintings and discovering unique perspectives of her characters which bring them to life in new ways. Her paintings reflect her interpretation of these subjects and their worlds.
Alyssa’s experience as a mother has also proven to be instrumental in directing the expression of her artistic sensibilities. Observing the magical interactions that occur when her young children engage with books has inspired Alyssa to turn her attention in a wonderful new direction: illustrating children’s books. She believes that her paintings have the potential to impact children as they experience stories, art and a growing love for both. She looks forward to continuing to invest her time working on projects that will help children to grow and thrive developmentally and creatively.
Alyssa and her family now reside in Wisconsin where she teaches classes in various art-related fields and sells her work in local shops and stores.
