Becky May
Violin, Viola

Becky May started playing viola in elementary school at age 11. She went on to study viola at the University of Cincinnati for a Bachelor’s Degree in Performance and then at the University of Michigan for a Masters Degree. While in school, her summers were spent at the Chautauqua Institution in New York and the Aspen Music Festival in Colorado. Becky then spent a year touring South America and Europe with the New World Symphony, based in Miami, Florida.
For fifteen years, Becky was a professional free-lance musician in the Chicago area. She performed with many area ensembles including the Elgin Symphony, the Lake Forest Symphony, the Grand Rapids (Michigan) Symphony, the Civic Orchestra of Chicago and the Chicago Symphony. Also while in Chicago, she formed and performed with a string quartet for many varied occasions such as weddings, receptions, and conventions.
Since moving to Madison, Becky has been a chamber music coach for the Wisconsin Youth Symphony and teaching privately.
