Emily Birsan
Piano, Voice
Master Level Teacher
Emily’s studio is currently full for the 2009-10 school year.
Voice and piano teacher, Emily Birsan has studied music her entire life and enjoys sharing music-making with others. Emily just recently moved to the Madison area and has been teaching piano and voice in the Fox Cities area to all levels since 2002. A classically trained soprano, she holds her Bachelor of Music from Lawrence Conservatory and is now pursuing her Masters of Music in Opera at the UW-Madison School of Music with the distinguished Paul Collins Fellowship. Her classical background only augments her extensive training in instrumental and vocal jazz technique and encourages improvisation in her teaching. She has worked with jazz artists such as Chick Corea, Kurt Elling and Maria Schneider. She studies opera with Julia Faulkner. Emily now performs in the Madison area with the Madison Bach Musicians and will sing the role of Alcina in Handel’s Alcina at University Opera this spring. She has been recognized with an Encouragement Award this past year at the Metropolitan Regional Auditions.
