Seeking an experienced teacher. Levels: beginner through advanced

Rhapsody Arts Center, a nonprofit, community-based school for the arts in Verona, WI, is looking for a part-time private & group violin instructor to join our instructional team, teaching children, teens, and some adults.

Preferred availability is 1-2 days/week with potential for future growth in our multidisciplinary arts organization. Rhapsody is looking for a reliable and professional teacher to join our expanding team.

Compensation: Competitive pay, based on experience, education, availability, & longevity

Schedule/Start :  Teach our existing students, 1-2 days per week for summer 2019, with a flexible start date. This position will function as a summer replacement for an existing instructor, on leave from June-September 2019, with additional potential for an earlier start and/or continuation past the summer.

Our ideal candidate will possess the following:

  • Degree in music attained or in progress, or equivalent training
  • Experience with Suzuki materials & approach (certification appreciated/not necessary)
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Outgoing personality which fosters a fun and welcoming experience for students and families
  • At least 2 years prior (musical) teaching experience with children or teens
  • Knowledge of classical and alternative styles (traditional folk, jazz, Latin, etc.), with strong reading skills
  • Ability to teach beginner to advanced students on violin (plus other instruments if able)
  • Ability & interest in coordinating & teaching violin ensembles (see Rhapsody’s Fiddle Club for examples)
  • Excellent musical & professional references

Growth potential

  • Ability to contribute to the expansion of Rhapsody’s music lessons, classes, and performance ensemble programming in the Verona area and neighboring communities
  • Cooperate with Rhapsody management & instructors to develop new programs & support existing programs
